The Art Department will host Empty Bowls, a fund-raiser to
raise money to give to a local food organization, at the Trotter House
from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. April 11.
The diners pay $15 dollars for the dinner and
receive a ceramic bowl when they finish. Only 150 bowls of soup will be
served and the College of Technology-Crossett’s Hospitality Service
will prepare the soup and serve the meal.
The purpose of the diner receiving the bowl is to remind diners of the
empty bowls and hungry people across the nation.
Art students made and glazed the bowls for the event. The students made
bowls for a class assignment, and students not in the ceramics class
helped by making clay.
“An event like this can bring the college and the community to work
together to promote civil engagement,” said Scott Lykens, assistant
professor of Art.
The recipient of the proceeds will go to the Senior
Citizen Food Program of Drew County.
Tickets are limited. If you are interested or need more
information please contact Scott Lykens at lykens@uamont.edu or Juanita
Webb at 870-367-5804. The deadline for tickets is April 8.
