Police Log

March 28

   Patrolling all areas on campus.  Out at Harris Hall for an unlock.  Patrolling parking areas.

   Out at Memorial Classroom Building with student out of gas.  Took student to gas station.

   Go assist Monticello Police Department with possible subject with gun at the park in town.

 

   Monitor four-ways.  Make traffic stop; issue verbal warning.  Out to unlock vehicle.


March 29

   Monitor four-ways.  Make a couple of traffic stops.  Issue verbal warning.

   Received a call about a student off campus wanting a vehicle unlocked.  Advised the student we couldn't go off campus to unlock.

   Assist Monticello P.D. with an incident up town involving a gun.  Check Royer Hall for some of our students.  No contact.

   Out at Public Safety Office to monitor storms coming through.

March 30

   Received a call from Bankston Hall resident about graffiti on the walls on the northeast side of Bankston.  Out at Bankston to investigate.  Contacted another officer to brief him on findings.

   Patrolling.  Light traffic on campus.  Traffic stop by Bankston Hall for speeding, 51 in a 35.  Issued a UAM citation and verbal warning.

   Check all of the parking lots around the campus.  Monitor traffic on campus.  Assist another officer with a traffic stop.  Monitor four-ways.  Make a couple of traffic stops.

   Go to Monticello P.D. to pick up a couple of 10-17's and return to campus.

March 31

   In Public Safety Office to issue parking permits.

   Out at Bankston Hall to take photos of graffiti on northeast brick wall.  Out with maintenance to have painters remove graffiti.  Out at Harris Hall to talk with Residence Life about graffiti and an unrelated matter.

   Traffic stop with UAM student for no stop at stop sign.  Issued a UAM citation for the same.

   Out to serve summons to court to a student.

   Out at Maxwell Hall to monitor students having a get-together.  Complaint about loud music at get-together.  Went to the area and found music within tolerance for outside party. 

   Traffic stop with UAM student for loud music on Scogin Drive.  Issued UAM citation for the same.

   Party over at Maxwell Hall and area seems to be cleaned up.

   Out to monitor students in the cafeteria.  Had a group of football players get loud, and I told them to keep it down or I would make them leave the area.  All complied.  No other incidents.

   Out at Royer Hall to assist with a four-wheeler impoundment.

   Received a call from another officer about an accident in the John F. Gibson University Center north parking lot.  (See case file).

   Heavy rain, lightening and thunder.  No apparent damage about campus.  Minor flooding of low-lying areas.

April 1

   In office to issue parking permits.

   Out to University B Apartments to assist a resident assistant in opening a door.  Used student's key and opened door; just a little sticky.

   Out at Maxwell hall with Residence Life director to serve eviction to a non-student living in the dorm.

   Out to the range with Auxiliary student.  Out at range to qualify with a weapon.

   Out at the U.C. to take report for a stolen cell phone.

   Out at Babin Business Center to open door for staff that was locked inside.

April 2

 


   In office issuing decals.

   Out to BBC to turn in accident report.

   Received call about trouble at the U.C. gym.  Student was playing around and would not give another student cell phone.  All OK after getting phone back.

   Out with another officer for a traffic stop on Scogin Drive beside Agriculture building.  Everything Code 4.

   Traffic stop on Scogin Drive for failure to yield and speeding.  Verbal warning issued.

   Making rounds beside Family Housing and noticed a large group of individuals in the softball parking lot.  Advised another officer on patrol about the individuals.  The other officer went over to talk with subjects.  Subjects stated that they were practicing sparring (boxing).  The officer advised subjects that they needed to practice elsewhere.  The group dispersed.

   Noticed that in front of the Missionary Baptist Student Fellowship a section of guard rails were "up-rooted" from the ground.  Advised another officer about the situation.

   Patrolling traffic stop for failure to stop.  Patrolling all areas of the campus.  Traffic stop for driving with lights off.

 

April 3

   Out issuing citations around the campus.  Boot vehicle.  Continue with citations.  Go remove boot from vehicle.

   Run radar around the campus.  Make traffic stops.

   Monitor four-ways watch traffic as people leave campus.  Stop to watch softball game.

   At defensive tactics class.

   Teaching auxiliary class in the Fred J. Taylor Library.
