The Creative Society puts on the event once a semester at the Patio Café. All forms of original material are encouraged to come out. Whether you sing, dance, read poems, perform a short skit or display artwork, all are encourage to participate.
Gary Marshall, speech communication professor and Creative Society adviser, stressed that originality is the key element to make Mocha Madness what it is.
The Creative Society will give away tie-dyed T-shirts to everyone on the program and to people who participate in the open mic session on a first-come first-basis until they run out. The Creative Society made the shirts during its tie-dye party.
The event will also provide homemade goodies, coffee and tea adding to the “good fun and creative experience,” said Jeffery Trotter, Creative Society choragus.
Other members in the organization give the title of choragus, which is similar to a president, to the most respected student in the group.
Since, the first event the Patio Café has always been packed with people eagerly waiting to show off their stuff.
“The crowd is always friendly and welcoming, so you don’t have to worry about being booed off the stage,” Trotter said. “You can have a friend read your material if you still are shy, it will be good fun.”
The deadline to get added to the program is
Monday, April 14, by e-mailing Marshall at marshall@uamont.edu.
