Foliate Oak and The Voice Win Awards

The Foliate Oak Online and The Voice received 11 awards from the Arkansas College Media Association at Arkansas State University in Jonesboro April 18.

The Foliate Oak Online received seven awards. They
received second place for Magazine General Excellence for the "Best of
Foliate Oak 2007." They also received the following awards from works
the current issue, "Best of Foliate Oak 2008:"
- First Place in Non-fiction Writing - C. L. Bledsoe's "Yellow Submarine"
- First Place in Fiction Writing - Janet Yung's "Moved by the Spirit"
- Second Place in Poetry - Lawrence Keel's "When Claire Died"
- Second Place in Non-fiction Writing - Joe Buckner's "Knowing"
- Third Place in Fiction Writing - Renate Krakauer's "The Day After"
- Third place in Non-fiction Writing - Tom Mahony's
"Jury Duty"

The Voice won four awards and received second place for Best Web Edition. The editors for The Voice comprise Brooke Burger, Editor-in-Chief; Danielle Kloap, Managing Editor; Susan Harmon, Commentary Editor; Linna Jones, Arts & Entertainment Editor; and Amber Rowe, Around Campus Editor.
Other staff members of The Voice who won awards include:
- Douglas Boultinghouse received honorable mention for Review Writing.
- Kevin Sims received third place for sports Features Writing.
- Latoya Shelton received honorable mention for Feature Photo.
ACMA handed out awards for different areas involving yearbook, newspaper, television and magazines. Eleven schools attended awards ceremony including John Brown University, South Arkansas University, Arkansas Tech University, University of Central Arkansas, University of Arkansas, Arkansas State University, Central Baptist College, University of Arkansas at Little Rock, Harding University and Ouachita Baptist University.
