Minority Teacher Scholarship Now Available

Applications for the Arkansas Geographical Critical Needs Minority Teacher Scholarship Program are now available for the 2008 fall semester.
The School of Education administers the scholarship program reauthorized by the 84th General Assembly to address the shortage of public school teachers in the Delta region, particularly minority teachers.
The program awards up to $1,500 per academic year (fall and spring semesters) for full-time enrollment and up to $750 per academic year for part-time enrollment.
To be eligible an applicant must be Black, Hispanic American, Asian American or American Indian, and be enrolled in or accepted for enrollment at a baccalaureate degree-granting institution of higher education or at an accredited state-supported community college.
Candidates must submit an application, along with all official transcripts, to the Arkansas Geographical Critical Needs Minority Teacher Scholarship Program, UAM School of Education, P.O. Box 3608, Monticello, Ark. 71655.
The deadline to apply is July 5. Eligible applicants will be notified of their awards. The Arkansas Geographical Critical Needs Minority Teacher Scholarship Funds may be used at any two-year or four-year college or university in the state.
