Police Log

Aug. 22

   Complaint of loud music coming form the "A" section of the University Apartments. Asked the resident to turn it down.

   Fire alarm reported at Horsfall Hall. False alarm caused by a faulty head on the third floor. I Showed the defective head to maintenance and silenced the alarm but did not reset the system. Made a final check of the campus, all quiet at this time.

  Campus patrol, issued citations. Traffic stop for traveling the wrong way in a one way. Verbal warning given.

   Out at Harris Hall for unlock.

   Campus patrol. Unlocked the concession stand for the Band to obtain water and ice. Locked immediately afterward.

Patrolled campus. Received call from Drew County Deputy Sheriff needing assistance with a vehicle unlock on the Drew Central parking lot.

Received a call from dispatch that officer needed assistance with a vehicle on University Drive. The officer had a DUI and was awaiting Lock's and Key's for a tow. Stayed with the vehicle until Lock's and Key's arrived and took possession of the vehicle.

Working traffice with one traffic stop on Scrogins. Verbal warning issued.

 

 

Aug. 25

   Monitored traffic around campus.

Aug.  26

   Went to Bowser Road to assist Drew County Sheriff's Office with domestic.

   Back on patrol, monitored traffic around campus.

Aug. 27

   Helped a stranded motorist in front of the Memorial Classroom Building.

   Reminded a group of students at Bankston Hall of the 10 p.m. rule, asked them to move to the pond area. Back on patrol.

   Issued parking citations. Unlock at the bookstore and Royer Hall.

 On patrol. Spoke with several groups of students around the pond. Requested they lower the volume of their laughter and conversations. Reminded them that it was past quiet hour.

Aug. 28

   Campus patrol. Issued parking citations. Two boosts at Science Center.

   Out at the Field House at Coach Early's request to write tickets. One ticket issued, all others parked appropriately. Out at Bankston Hall for a boost. Traffic stop on University Drive for 10 miles over speed limit. Verbal warning given.

   Received a call from Royer Hall about a minor parking lot accident. Monitoring traffic.

   Unlocked room in the Field House for a student to retrieve keys.

   Out with a student who was complaining about the parking around Maxwell Hall.

   On patrol. A lot of students walking around campus.

   Out at the BBC with a Russell Cellular sales person.  Told the sales person to stop putting solicitations on students' and staff's windshields and leave the area.  She complied.

Aug. 29

   Worked traffic around campus.

   Traffic stop for failure to yield at a four way stop.

   On patrol. Moderate traffic. Two UAM citations issued.

   Very nice day today.  A lot of foot traffic around campus with no incidents to report.

   Call from band member needing to make a report about a stolen cell phone. Went to band hall to make report when band member advised that he found his cell phone.

   Traffic stop for failure to yield. Municipal citation issued.

   Took student to Drew Memorial at request of Nurse. Dropped him off, and picked him up later. Took him to his vehicle in the Babin Business Center parking lot.

Aug. 30

  On motor patrol. Some foot traffic and some vehicle traffic around campus during this time with no incidents.

   Patrolled all areas of campus, traffic very light.

  Patrol campus. Check phone lines. All lines were out along with the 1000 line. Went to office to call maintenance and Mr. Kidwell. Called Mitch Meredith to have him advise the RA's to call public safety direct on the cell phone. Made a final check of campus. All quiet at this time.



Sept. 1

   Stopped by RA at Maxwell. She tried to call the 1000 line and it was not working. Called Buba with Maintenance to come out and correct. Bubba came out and reset phone system. Pickens told me the same thing happened last night and he had Maintenance reset it. Must be some kind of trouble with the system. Back on patrol.

   Received a call from the Horsfall RA stating that a student appeared to be having a low sugar event in her office. The student refused a candy bar and also refused an ambulance. One of the student's friends took her to the Emergency Room. Before my arrival, The RA called again to inform me that the fire alarm was going off. Upon arrival, it was determined that there was no fire. Alarm was reset.

Received a call from a University Apartments resident that someone was shining a laser into her room. I believe it was a laser pointer from Maxwell Hall, but no way to determine which room it was coming from.
