Wrapping Gifts - Walter Warfield, Bridgett Watson, Kristen Hancock, Kyle Tucker and Brandon Tucker wrap Christmas gifts for adopted foster girls. CIS raised money by hosting a bake sale in Oct.

CIS members said they agree with the qualities they must display such as qualities of character, initiative and strength. Members feel these characteristics are especially important during the holiday season.

This year the CIS organization adopted two foster children. On Dec. 4, CIS members, faculty and staff began wrapping gifts for the girls.

Both girls will unwrap clothing and shoes. An art kit was purchased for the four-year-old, and the 16-year-old will receive a DVD player. Last but certainly not least, each girl will receive a bike for Christmas.

The gifts will be delivered to the Department of Human Services.

In October, the club hosted a bake sale to raise money for this particular event, which started in 2001 and has continued throughout the years.

Students and others, who were not able to participate in the bake sale, had the opportunity to donate money and gifts.

Lynn Harris and Karen Donham, co-advisors of the CIS organization, said they always received a good response. In the past, the organization donated basketballs, video games, dolls and clothes.

“I am really excited about participating in this event; giving others a great Christmas,” said Jennifer Nicholson, first-year CIS member.
