Chi Iota Sigma Initiates Members and Award Book Stipends

Chi Iota Sigma initiated 10 members into its organization and awarded seven book stipends to new and old members Dec. 4.
Karen Donham, instructor of Computer Information Systems, presented the new members Chi Iota Sigma pins and CIS president John Fryer lead them in the CIS pledge. The new members initiated comprised:

“We got a good
group of new students and we look forward to seeing everybody next year,”
Donham said.
James Roiger, professor and chair of the Division of Computer Information Systems, announced the winners of the $100 book stipends. The students who won a book stipend included:
- Jennifer Nicholson
- John Fryer
- Richard Vaughn
- Justin Green
- Ben Faver
- Kristen Hancock
- Bridgett Watson
According to the
CIS website, CIS represent three important qualities, which its members
display: character, initiative and strength. Chi represents character, Iota
represents initiative and Sigma represents strength.
Faculty and students in the Division of Computer Information Systems started the club at the University of Arkansas at Monticello and the University and Assembly endorsed it in 2001.
First-year student Kirsten Hancock said what she liked about being initiated into the CIS Club.
“It’s pretty cool,”
Hancock said. “I like being in a group that has my same interest."
