Many resources at the University of Arkansas at Monticello are out there for students to use to help them achieve success in college. Harris Hall offers many things to students applying for admission, new students, current students or returning students.
The first floor of Harris Hall holds the Admissions Offices, Students Special Services and the Office of the Registrar.
The Admissions Office, according to Mary Whiting, Director of Admissions, contains several offices within one.
“Every student that attends UAM will come through this office,” Whiting said.
Students with questions about institutional or private scholarships should visit the Admission Office. Deadline to apply for those scholarships is March 1. Whiting said e-mails are sent via student e-mail about up coming scholarships and deadline reminders.
The Admissions Office, located in Room 120, also works with the international students and maintains their records. That office maintains responsibility for recruitment events such as pre-registration, new students, transfer orientations and Weevil Welcome Days. To contact the Admissions Office, call 870-460-1026 or go by the office.
Also on the first floor is Room 120, the office for Students Special Services, which specializes in helping students with documented disabilities such as physical or learning disabilities. To contact Special Student Services, call 460-1026.
The Office of the Registrar, in Room 102, allows students to get add/drop forms for classes and request a transcript after paying the fee and apply for graduation. To contact the Office of the Registrar, call 460-1043.
The second floor holds the Gateway Office, the Cashiers Office, Residence Life Offices, Career Services, Counseling and Testing and where students get their ID’s made. The Cashiers Office, in Room 204, allows students to pay for school, library fines and finalize their bill. To call the Cashiers Office, call 460-1043.
The Gateway Office, located in Room 219, provides a program for students who meet one of three qualifications; first generation college student, documented learning or physical disability or meet financial needs. The program offers academic advising and counseling, tutoring, academic support, financial aid counseling, career and major counseling, peer mentoring, cultural enrichment, computer training and graduate school advising. Students wishing to know more about the Gateway Program must contact Tawana Greene at 460-1054.
Students can also speak with Laura Hughes, located in Room 201, who is in charge of career services and counseling and testing. Also students can pick up free blue books and scantrons in Room 201. Students wanting to make an appointment with Hughes must call 870-460-1454.
Residence Life, located in Room 213, allows students to apply to live on campus and change or add meal plans. Students not living on campus can still apply for meal plans. For questions about dorm life, call 460-1026.
Student ID’s are very important because they allow students to check out material from the library, eat in the cafeteria, get student discounts around town, get into home games for free, have declining balance for the patio or the cafeteria (if the student has a meal plan) and to use the computer lab in the Library. Student ID’s are free for the first one and there is a five dollar fee for a lost or stolen ID. Student IDS are made in Room 208.
The third floor holds the financial aid office, tutoring rooms and ROTC.
The Department of Military Science Army, known as the ROTC office, is located in Room 328 and their phone number is 460-1402.
The Financial Aid Office is located in Room 300. For questions about the Free Application For Student Aid, work study qualifications or different types of financial aid, students should come by the office or call 460-1050.
