Friday’s victories came of Quincy and Missouri Southern. Freshman Kayla Jackson dominated both contests from both the mound and the plate.
In the first contest against Quincy she pitched all 7 innings only allowing 1 run on 5 hits. The cannon that is her right arm prevented most Quincy batters from even reaching first base. Without her pitching the game would not have been as impressive.
The second game of the afternoon for the Blossoms was a more difficult task to accomplish. The Blossoms fell behind early 4-1 but rallied together in the last innings to pull out a 6-5 victory.
In the second game against Missouri Southern she smashed a double and a triple to drive in four runs and score a fifth of her own. She was responsible for 5 of the Blossom’s 6 runs in the contest.
Aside from Jackson, UAM’s other outstanding players had to be the Missouri Southern pitchers who walked 7 batters and made Jackson’s extra-base-hits more impressive.
On Saturday the Blossoms returned to action against Quincy and Southern Indiana and dominated both contests with final scores of 3-0. Both games were complete game shut-outs by pitchers Randa Parry and Kayla Jackson.
The Blossoms closed out the Super 8 Classic with games on Sunday as they try to improve to 12-0 on the season.
