| Name Game- GSA members participate in the name game. Members took turns asking one another questions to figure out who’s name was on their back. |
GSA, while becoming an official organization last year, strives to provide the community with a socially safe and supportive environment for gays, lesbians, bisexuals, as well as straight oriented gay supporters and friends. Meetings are open to anyone regardless of their sexual preference.
“Love is like a flower. You got to let it grow,” member Dusty Smith said.
During a meeting held Sept. 4, GSA President Pam Cameron spoke to members about plans for “Ramen Noodle Cook-off” on September 18. The cook-off takes place at 12:30 in the Horsfall Hall lobby. Members plan to use Ramen noodles to create their own unique dish.
With nominations for treasurer and other business completed, Cameron broke the monotony of the way many organizations conduct meetings by having game time. Members lined up and played “The Name Game.” The game proceeded with Cameron taping names of cartoon characters on the person’s back and other members gave clues to help the person guess what name was taped to their back.
“I like how lively the meetings are and how supportive the group is,” Cameron said.
GSA, along with game time, offers spiritual discussions, random t-shirt parties, cultural trips and club nights.
According to Vice President Megan Mullikin, GSA also holds discrete meetings. These meetings are for people who would not be comfortable with the campus having access to their sexual preference. GSA meetings take place every Thursday at 12:30 p.m. in Memorial Classroom Building Room 121.
