Order - SAB President Michael Reynolds reviews parliamentary procedure during the SAB meeting Sept. 4 to help the meeting run smoothly. SAB discussed how to encourage more fan participation for athletics.

The SGA constitutions states that student senators will be elected, but SGA President Michael Thomas said the senate part of the constitution has not been followed the past few years, so SGA is trying to get students interested in the senate again.

“We want students to be a voice for their particular major or organization,” Thomas said.

Thomas said senators would work to rewrite the constitution, and focus on registering students to vote in the upcoming presidential election.

“We plan to have 90 % of the student body registered to vote,” Thomas said. “Who better to do that than the Student Government Association?”

Any full-time student with a 2.5 GPA or higher can be considered for the student senate, according to Thomas. Interested students should email Thomas at mdt1315@uamont.edu.

Thomas said students getting involved with the student senate would allow SGA to help students even more.

“We want to know more about what the students want,” Thomas said. “We want to hear the students’ voice.”

At the Student Activities Board meeting Sept. 4, students voted to have “Green-Out Day” every Friday.

“We need to encourage everyone to wear green and white on Friday to show school spirit,” SAB President and SGA Vice President Michael Reynolds said.

Other topics covered at the meeting include:

    • $463.25 spent on “Rowdy Crowd” t-shirts that will be handed out at each home football game.
    • Tailgating details for Sept. 6 football game
    • iPod giveaway during halftime of Sept. 6 football game.
    • Alumni Association will give out a best decorated tailgater area award at each home football game.

SAB will now meet every Tuesday at 12:45 in the University Center House Room. The next meeting will be Tuesday, Sept. 9. SGA will meet every other Thursday at 12:45 in the U.C. House Room. The next SGA meeting will take place Sept. 11.
