Preregistration Coming Soon, Are you Ready?

Preregistration allows student to select the classes they need to complete their major or minor and receive instruction from the professors they would like to take courses under. Preregistration begins for currently enrolled students April 6-17 and students who have been admitted by April 6 can register the 13-17.
The preregistration process differs between University of Arkansas at Monticello and the campuses at UAM College of Technology- Crossett and the UAM college of Technology-McGehee.
The Preregistration Procedure for the UAM Campus
Students need to meet with their assigned academic advisers to assess their progress and plan their schedule for the summer or fall. The adviser may enter your class schedule or you can enter them yourself using “Online Pregistration.” Generally, graduate students and undergraduate students who have already completed more than 69 hours, have at least a 2.50 cumulative GPA and are not on conditional academic standing may preregister online after seeing their adviser.
If you don’t remember or know the name of your adviser, you can find the name and location of your adviser by contacting Academic Affairs at 460-1033, the registrar at 460-1034 or through campus connect.
After registering students can print a copy of their class schedule and estimated bill by going to the computer located on the first floor of Harris Hall.
For students not currently enrolled and have gone through the admissions process, you need to go to the Office of Academic Advising (located in the Administration Building 106B) for assignment of an academic adviser and for further directions.
To Preregister at the Crossett and McGehee Campuses
According to the UAM Web site, students who have gone through the UAM admissions process should visit the office of the Counselor for advising and entering of summer and fall classes. Students can get a copy of their class schedule and estimated bill by going to the Student Services Office at Crossett. Students at the McGehee location can get a copy of their class schedule and estimated bill by going to the Bookstore. If you have any questions about preregistration, contact the Office of Registration and 460-1034
Online Preregistration
Preregistering online allows the student the freedom to select and register for their class, but advisers also can remove or add the online preregistration capability on any of their advisees. Students who qualify for online preregistration will be able to add classes starting April 6 at 9 a.m. and ending on April 17 at 4 p.m. Students will need to know their student ID number and pin number to access the system.
To preregister online:
- At the UAM home page, choose the Campus Connect quick link.
- Enter student ID and PIN. Press Enter or click the arrow to login.
- Go to “Registration” button to access a dropdown menu. To add classes for summer or fall 2009, select “Add/Drop Courses” from the Registration dropdown menu.
- To access the list of classes, highlight the term and the department from which you want to choose classes. Click “List Courses” button.
- To add a class, click the ADD button beside the class listing. The added class will appear in the upper part of the screen.
- To drop a class, click the DROP button beside the listing in the upper part of the screen.
- To add a class from a different academic unit, click the button at the bottom of the listing “Select a different term code or department” and then select the desired term and department.
- After achieving the desired schedule of classes, select “View Schedule” from the Registration drop down menu. If changes are needed, repeat the steps above, beginning with Step 3.
One thing I learned about preregistering is to know what classes are required for your major or minor and see when they will be offered. Also bringing in a list of classes you need to take or might want to take to your adviser may help in deciding what classes you do take. By know your options, you have the opportunity to know if a class is conflicting with another or if you do not have the prerequisites to take the course. Signing up early always helps in assuring that you know you have the class and the teacher you want to take.
However, if you do not finalize your bill, you will lose the classes you preregistered for. Even if you owe a balance of $0, students still need to validate their registration by going to the cashier at your campus location, mail and fax or online. To pay online, you need to go to the school Web site to Campus Connect.
The deadlines for preregistered students to pay or make arrangement to pay their bill comprise:
- May 29 for Summer I classes (classes begin June 1.)
- July 2 for Summer II classes (classes begin July 6)
- August 17 for Fall (Classes begin Aug. 26).
