Division of Computer Information Systems Honors Teacher of the Year and Students

The Division of Computer Information Systems announced the teacher of the year, honors and scholarships at its annual awards ceremony April 21.
Jim Roiger, professor and chair of Division of Computer Information Systems, announced Angela Marsh, associate professor of CIS, as the Faculty Member of the Year. He honored several students including:
- Sophomore Justin Walker as Rookie of the Year and the recipient of the Austin Scholarship.
- Kenneth Cage as Outstanding Junior and recipient of the Hornaday Scholarship
- Senior Michael Howard as Outstanding Senior
Walker described his feelings when he
received his award.
“I was surprised, I didn’t expect to win anything,” Walker said.
The recipient of the General Scholarship for
fall and spring included:
- Calvin Davis
- Jordan Frizzell
- Caleb Satterlee
- Amanda Edwards
- Keith Franklin
- Jacob Malin
- Ashley Smith
- Fredrick Washington
- Ben Faver for one semester
He recognized seniors Michael Howard and
Freddie Gibson and sophomore Caleb Satterlee for placing first place at the
Axiom Collegiate Programming Competition and seniors Richard Vaughn and Calvin Davis and junior Kyle Knight for placing
second.
Chancellor Jack Lassiter also spoke at the event talking about the success of the institution.
“This institutions only succeeds when our students succeed,” Lassiter said.
