May 4 - Late Night Breakfast in the University Center Green Room. Comedian Louis Ramey performs from 7:30 - 8 p.m. and breakfast is served in the dining hall beginning at 9 p.m. Prizes including an iPod Nano, audio 7" portable DVD player, a 19" Emerson LCD/DVD television, an Acer laptop and Wii will be given away. May 5 - "Finals Time," a workshop presented by Gateway Student Support Services, at 12:40 p.m. in Room 200 of Harris Hall. This will be the final Gateway workshop for the semester. May 5 - John Kloap Senior Recital , 7:30 p.m. at the Fine Art Center Spencer Gallery. 

May 29 - Deadline for preregistered students to pay or make arrangements to pay tuition, fees and room and board for Summer I classes (classes begin June 1).

June 8-19 - "Pre-K: Social-Emotional Learning," a non-credit class on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 8:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. in McGehee. There is no cost to attend but participants must register by call (870) 690-0188.

June 13 - Sixth Annual CARTI Tour de Rock at Burns Park Soccer Complex, North Little Rock. Twelve-mile Arkansas Children's Hospital Family Fun Ride begins at 9 a.m. Experienced cyclists can select the 7 a.m. Cornerstone Insurance Advanced Ride which features route options of 30, 50, 62 or 100 miles. June 15-29 - "Basic Internet and E-mail," a non-credit class on Mondays from 2:30 - 4:30 p.m. on the UAM College of Technology campus in McGehee. Cost is $30. Register by June 11 by calling Annette at (870) 265-6961.

June 16-July 14 - "Conversational Spanish," a non-credit class on Tuesdays from 5:30 - 7:30 p.m. on the UAM College of Technology campus in McGehee. Cost is $50. Register by June 11 by calling Judy at (870) 222-5360.

June 18 - "Oil Painting," a non-credit class from 5:30 - 9 p.m. at the Workforce Training Center on 809 Hwy. 278 E. in Monticello. Cost is $65 and includes supplies. Register by June 11 by callling Coleen at 662-464-5086.

June 25 and 26 - "Envirothon for Teachers," a non-credit class from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. at the Southeast Arkansas Education Cooperative in Monticello. There is no cost to attend but participants must register at www.escweb.net.

Meetings

Mondays

 

The U.N.I.T.Y choir rehearses at 7:30 p.m. in the Music Building 133. UNITY is open to all students. For

more information, call 460-1743 or e-mail unityclub@uamont.edu.

The Wesley Foundation hosts a free lunch sponsored by local area churches at noon on Monday's at the Wesley Foundation house, located next to the tennis courts with a small pond in front.

Tuesdays

The Student Government Association and the Student Activities Board meet at 12:40-1:30 p.m. every second Tuesday of each month in the U.C. Caucus Room.  Any student can participate and attend meetings. Any student or organization needing an issue brought before SGA should contact Mindy Holcomb, director of Student Programs and Activities, at 460-1396 or e-mail holcomb@uamont.edu.

The Collegiate Social Work Organization meets every other Tuesday of each month at 12:30 p.m. in MCB 204, located across from the Social Work Office.

The Spatial Information Systems Club meets bi-weekly on Tuesdays at 12:30 p.m. in Room 209A of the Chamberlin Forest Resources Complex.

UAM Chess Club meets every Tuesday at 3 p.m. in Room 316 of Babin Business Center.

The Alpha Chi student honorary conducts regular business meetings for members only from 12:40–1:30 p.m. on the second Tuesdays of each month.

U.N.I.T.Y Club meets at 7 p.m. in 204 Memorial Classroom Building. Unity is open to all students. For more information, call 460-1743 or e-mail unityclub@uamont.edu.


Wednesdays

Phi Beta Lambda meets the first and last Wednesdays at Noon each month in Room 206 in UAM College of Technology Campus - Crossett. For information contact Tonya Loe at loet@uamont.edu or call (870) 364-6414 ext. 151.

Baptist Collegiate Ministries serve lunch at noon. First-timers eat free and everyone else eats for $2. Proceeds benefit summer mission trips and other activities. 

The Chess Club meets at 3:30 p.m. in Room 316 of the Babin Business Center.

The Forestry Club meets at 5 p.m. in the lobby of the forestry building. For more information about the club, visit the Web site.

Thursdays

Chi Iota Sigma meets the first Thursday in the Babin Business Center room 104.

The Theater Club meets every other Thursday upstairs, above Java city in the Fred J. Taylor Library at 12:40 p.m.

The Psychology Club holds meetings the last Thursday of every month at 12:45 p.m. in Memorial Classroom Building 315. Anyone interested may attend. The club also offers tutoring services for psychology courses.

The campus chapter of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People meets at 6 p.m. in Horsfall Hall.

Drew Country Writers meet on the third Thursday each month in the First Presbyterian Church library at 6:30 p.m. Members must produce tangible evidence that they write, though they may not have published at this point.

Missionary Baptist Student Fellowship hosts "Renown" meetings at 9 p.m. at the MBSF Center (near the tennis courts). Come find out about weekly small groups and upcoming events. MBSF encourages all students to attend.

Student Mentors - If you would like to talk to a student who is facing or has overcome some of the obstacles or issues as you, meet with a Student Mentor in Wells Hall Room 112 or 105 one of the following days and times:

  • Monday and Wednesday - 9 a.m. - 11 a.m. and Noon - 4 p.m.
  • Thursday - Noon - 3 p.m. 

Students can also e-mail a Student Mentor. Mentors will do his/her best to answer e-mails during his/her working hours.

Writing Center - Tutors are ready to help students with any writing assignments. When scheduling, please allow yourself plenty of time to work with a tutor. The Writing Center is only available for students quietly working on writing assignments. For Writing Center resources visit the website.  The Writing Center is open the following times:

  • Monday:   8 a.m. - 5 p.m.

  • Tuesday:   8 a.m. - 4 p.m.

  • Wednesday and Thursday:   8 a.m. - 3 p.m.

  • Friday:   8 a.m. - 2 p.m.

  • Sunday:  3 p.m. - 5 p.m.

The following computer labs are available for student use.  (Please bring your UAM ID to use the computers).

Library and Technology Center Lab

Visit the Fred J. Taylor Library and Technology Center
on the Monticello campus during special end-of-the-semester hours: 8 a.m.-10 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 8 a.m.-10 p.m. Friday, 1-4 p.m. Saturday and 2-10 p.m. Sunday. The Reference Desk is open from 8 a.m. - 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. on Friday. For off-campus access to online resources day or night go to the Library website.
