The Institute of Management Accountants continued working on community projects Sept. 22 in the Babin Business Center.
Senior IMA President Ashley Lay announced she delivered one load of plastic sacks to Grace Christian Academy. Lay said she received no word from Wal-Mart about ordering boxes to collect the grocery sacks. IMA plans to place the boxes around campus after receiving the proper approval.
IMA will also continue collecting General Mills Box Tops for Education, amd Campbell Soup and Nestle “Go Play” labels for Academy.
IMA also discussed a way to find out names of soldiers serving overseas after not being able to contact members of the University of Arkansas-Monticello Reserve Office Training Corps. Lay read a list of what may be sent to the soldiers including a variety of food items, hygiene products and reading materials. She also listed several products that may not be sent including pork, chocolate, “dirty” magazines or magazines that portray “scantily clad” women.
“Believe it or not, the military doesn’t provide much,” said Ted Hammet, associate professor of Accounting. “They provide food, clothing and shelter.”
Senior IMA Secretary Amber Reaves delivered the result of the T-shirt committee. She announced the T-shirt colors for IMA will be sky blue and charcoal gray. The front of the shirts will have the School of Business logo on the front and the School of Business building pictured on the back. IMA will also have navy blue polo shirts for men and women and a special type of men’s polo for those who want one. Children’s shirts may be special ordered.
The prices for the shirts include:
- T-shirts - $15
- Regular polo shirts - $30
- Special polo shirts - $40
IMA plans to sell the shirts to IMA members and people in the School of Business first, and then it will sell what shirts remain during Homecoming. For more information on the shirts, contact Amber Reaves at ALR1503@uamont.edu.
