Students voted to move the “Rowdy Crowd” to the visitor’s side of “Convoy” Leslie Cotton Boll Stadium in a Student Activities Board meeting Sept. 23. Michael Thomas, Student Government Association President, announced the “Rowdy Crowd” had to move back to the home side.

Mindy Holcomb, Student Programs and Activities director, said she and Clay Brown, vice-chancellor for Student Affairs, felt it would be better for the student section to be on the home side for Parent/Family Day.

“We want everyone on the home side that day,” Holcomb said.

Holcomb said the “Rowdy Crowd,” the university’s new student section, could be on the visitor’s side during the televised game Oct. 9.

“We want as many people on the visitor’s side as possible for that game,” Holcomb said. “The cameras will film from the home side.”

Michael Reynolds II, SGA vice president and SAB president, said he received a lot of complements on the new “Rowdy Crowd.”

The “Rowdy Crowd” moved to the section on the home side next to the concession trailers.

SGA officers also discussed the “Rowdy Crowd” T-shirts. SGA gave out 200 T-shirts and 71 #1 blow-up hands at Parent/Family Day. SGA originally planned to give out blow-up noise sticks to students, but Holcomb said the Gulf South Conference does not allow noisemakers.

   Other issues talked about include:

  • SGA voted to give away a Wal-Mart gift card to students for each quarter at the Parent/Family Day football game.
  • Senate Meetings – Sandy Herring asked all senators to submit their schedules to her through e-mail so she can set a date and time for meetings.

The next SGA meeting will take place Thursday, Oct. 9. The next SAB meeting will take place Tuesday, Sept. 30. More information will be given at the SAB meeting about Homecoming Week activities.
