Math and Physics Clubs Plan Fund-raiser and Elect Officers

The Math and Physics Club planned fund-raisers and elected officers during its first meeting Sept. 30.
“The purpose of the club is to promote math and physics, to have fun and relax," President Shuneize Lowe said. "The club also performs community service."
The club elected officers at its first meeting. This year’s 2008-2009 officers comprise:
- President- Shuneize Lowe
- Vice President – Shalonda Matthews
- Treasure- Jennifer Cobb
- Secretary- Kacie Barnett
- Co-Historians- Brittney Banks and Paige Hood
Topics at the meeting included:
- possibilites of decorating a spirit wall
- painting pumpkins
- club colors
. Members of the Math and Physics Club decided on yellow, red and black as the colors for the club.
The Math and Physics Club plans to sell nachos with cheese or chili as a fund-raiser throughout the year. The club will hold its first nacho fund-raiser Oct. 15 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Science Center. Cheese nachos will sell for $1.50 or nachos with chili for $1.75
Club advisers comprise Farrokh Abedi, assistant dean of Mathematics, and Juan Serna, assistant professor of Physics.
The Math and Physics club’s next meeting, planned for Oct. 14 at 12:40 p.m., will take place in room A-3 of the Science Center.
