Campus Phones Provide Emergency Help

Green emergency phones provide students with a one-touch emergency button, which directly connects with campus police.
Visibly placed around campus at dormitories and on sidewalks, phones provide 24-hour access to Public Safety. Emergency phones also provide access to unknown numbers at no cost, a service also provided by 411.
For novice users, instructions located beside phones provide details on phone usage. Instructions inform students of how to contact emergency and provide on-campus and off-campus telephone numbers.
After demonstrating how the phone works, Arica Turner said, “I didn’t know it was that easy. I can call on campus as well as emergency services? That’s great!”
Other students admitted to not being aware of the phones' availability. Solomon Edwards, football player, said he did not know the phones worked but insisted the phones provided safety and information for all students.
Although emergency phones receive maintenance regularly, if a phone is not working, do not hesitate to contact the Public Safety department.
As well as emergency phones, the campus also provides students and parents with emergency procedure manuals. These manuals can be accessed through the university's on-line services.
The manuals provide information regarding campus safety policies and what a student needs to do in the event of a disaster or an emergency situation.
