As soccer wraps up, the Intramurals program begins to plan events for basketball.

“Soccer has been one of the better sports with sportsmanship and conduct,” head official Cody Malone said.

Malone’s duties include making sure officials know the game and that the game goes the way it should.

Before basketball begins director Julie Gentry holds manager’s meetings in which a manager or team representative must attend one of three meetings. Gentry scheduled the next two meetings for Monday, Oct. 27 at 3 p.m. and Tuesday, Oct. 28 at 12:30 p.m. in the University Center House Room. The first meeting took place Oct. 23 in the Student Affairs Conference Room.

Leagues will be available for men, women and CoRec (men and women). Games will begin on Nov. 3.

Following basketball, Intramurals will hold its annual walleyball tournaments in December.

Gentry added a Poker Run Fun to the Intramurals line-up this semester and considered a Frisbee tournament for future activities.

“It’s hard to schedule events,” she said. “I am often limited with officials and space.”

Gentry said she enjoys the interaction with the students and encourages students to participate.

“Some think Intramurals are just for elite athletes, but it is for all students. You do not have to have played in high school to participate,” she said. “It’s a good place to meet people.”
