“I hope the ambassadors gained valuable skills that they can use in their lives as they move forward,” Whiting said.

Schoening spoke about “Being a Successful Leader.” He ended his speech saying we all have rendezvous with destiny; all I’ve got to say is have fun and enjoy the destiny. He quoted a line from Clarence, George Bailey’s Angel, from “It’s Wonderful Life” as an example of how we may not know how we effect the lives we touch.

“Strange, isn't it? Each man's life touches so many other lives. When he isn't around he leaves an awful hole, doesn't he?” Schoening quoted.

Participants also played college-style bingo. Katie Williams, Admissions and Recruitment Specialist, discussed “What is an Ambassador?” Brooke Rodgers, assistant director of Admissions, discussed “summarizing goals and ideas,” and Mary Whiting, director of Admissions, discussed “planning future goals.”

Colleen Glass, UAM ambassador vice president, and Clay Brown, vice chancellor for Student Affairs, welcomed the groups to the meeting. Josh Rauls, Admissions and Recruitment specialist talked about the history of the Ambassador program in Arkansas.
