| Let There be Light!- Caleb Burger performs a light show to Bassnectar at the 23rd Mocha Madness April 6. The next Mocha Madness will be held at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 3. |
Mocha Madness will not only provide people to show their creativity, but also give them a chance to help others by donating unwanted possessions in the Patio Café at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 3..
The theme for Mocha Madness will be “Freegan Mocha Madness.”
Caleb Burger, choragus for the event, developed the theme around the idea of a rummage sale or garage sale. Creative Society members will be asked to donate unwanted items, which will be donated to a local charity after the event. Participants may donate as well.
Participants will receive a glass bead necklace made by bead makers Tom and Sage Holland as the prize.
The Creative Society will offer refreshments of five different coffees, hot tea, hot cocoa and baked treats made by Randal Wilson. Brooke Burger, a UAM and Creative Society alumna, will be the Master of Ceremony for the event.
Mocha Madness is free to the public and provides an open mic session for those not on the program.
“I hope people are motivated to come,” Caleb Burger said. “The more people who perform, the more entertaining it is.”
Caleb Burger became the choragus after hearing about Mocha Madness being cancelled, Oct. 29.
“ I was pretty upset, because that was one activity that I go to and am involved in. I was disappointed it was canceled,” he said. “I enjoy performing and watching everyone else perform as well.”
Gary Marshall, adviser for the Creative Society, said Burger volunteered right after the e-mail was sent out on the student netlist.
“I thought it was excellent he decided to do this,” Marshall said. “Mocha Madness has always been a student operated activity.”
