A University of Arkansas - Monticello College of Technology in McGehee professor and students held a second food drive, along with a toy drive and a pet food drive for Christmas until Dec. 10.
Katherine Cobb, a biology instructor for the UAM - College of Technology in McGehee, and her students made sure that no one was hungry for Thanksgiving as they made their donation of food to the McGehee Food Pantry just before the holiday.
They held their second food drive for the Christmas season and this time, they added other drives to benefit residents of southeast Arkansas.
Cobb, and her students, collected toys for the Marine Corp’s Toys for Tots drive for the Christmas holiday until Dec. 10.
In addition, they collected for P.A.W.S. (Pets Are Worth Saving) for the holidays. They donated 160 pounds for Thanksgiving.
Volunteers at the McGehee Food Pantry were thankful for the donations from Cobb and her students and look forward to more in December.
Cobb is a UAM graduate, earning a degree in Biology, before obtaining her master's degree from University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in Little Rock.
"I'm proud to be working in the same school system which I graduated," Cobb said. "The 200 food items we donated to the local pantry is just a start."
