With Verizon's Motorola Droid on the scene, Apple's iPhone appears to have a little competition. But which is better?

In reference to the "best," one must consider several factors which comprise of: texting capabilities, apps, multitasking, screens, networks and overall looks.

Texting

With the world we live in, texting capabilities are significant. The ability to text quickly and efficiently will accommodate busy lifestyles.

The iPhone

Accessible through one of its pages, the text icon leads you directly to your text features. This phone displays a QWERTY keyboard offering a landscape view as well when turned on its side. An alternate number key allows you to access the number keypad allowing you to continuously key in numbers until you space. The touch screen allows less physical requirement and increases speed.  According to AT&T, the iPhone's home, prices for  unlimited text range from $20 to $30.

The Droid

This phone, similar to the iPhone, offers a QWERTY keyboard and landscape view when turned on its side. However, the Droid offers access to three keyboards while iPhone offers two. The third keyboard is a slider. Although it received negative comments on the lack of a raised keyboard or ridges, I think after time people will become accustomed to it. Verizon's prices for text range from $20 to $30.

Networks

When choosing a cellphone, networks must come be considered. Why have a great phone with horrible coverage? Most companies offer 3G networks which allows access to the Web and downloading in fast speeds.

 The iPhone

AT&T, home of the iPhone offers 3G network, the fastest network around. The issue with this is where it's offered. iPhone users are not 3G enabled until they journey north into places like Little Rock but AT&T offers Edge

  wherever 3G is unavailable.

The Droid

"America's most reliable network, "as stated by Verizon's slogan, gives AT&T a run for their money. The Droid offers 3G network in multiple places including Monticello. Why settle when you can have 3G all the time?

Apps

A game, a background check or maybe the news. Apps give consumers the ability to have almost everything they need at their fingertips.

The iPhone

This phone's app store can be found not only on the icon on the home screen but through iTunes.  Offering over 100,000 apps, the needs of the majority of consumers can be met. Apps range from utility to social networking. If you need to run a background check on your professor, "there's an app for that."

The Droid

This phone uses the Android Market featuring a mere 10,000 apps compared to the iPhone's app store.

 Let's compare other features.
