MONTICELLO- The Student Activities Board discussed the Wellness Fair and Spring Fling  Feb. 16.

Mindy Holcomb, director of Student Programs and Activities, introduced bringing back the Oxygen Bar for the SAB to host at the Wellness Fair. She mentioned bringing back either the Oxygen Bar or the Build-A-Bear project.

The Student Activities Board hosted the Oxygen Bar for the Wellness Fair in 2009 and brought Build-A-Bear to campus for Valentine’s Day that year.  The bears would come with T-shirts. The T-shirt can be specialized to be the same as the SAB’s T-shirt.

Holcomb estimated the cost of the Oxygen Bar at $1,500 while the Build-A-Bear would be $10 a bear. The SAB talked about ordering 300 bears with the total cost of $3,000. The board voted on the Oxygen Bar.

Holcomb asked for help from SAB members to work the organization's table at the Wellness Fair and help with set up or clean up. Some students volunteered for setup and clean up and others volunteered to work the table.

Holcomb said she would like to start working on Spring Fling at the next meeting.

“I think it will be really awesome because a lot of organizations are all wanting to come in and do stuff,” she said. “I just think it would be really good that week to have all kinds of stuff going.”

Spring Fling will have morning and night events, including Mocha Madness. They will have one to two other nights when the SAB can book events.

Holcomb also talked about adding an ID machine to take pictures. With the campus software transition to WeevilNet, all students, faculty and staff will need a new ID picture. She thought it would be good to incorporate taking new ID pictures with an SAB sponsored activity and it might be a good way to catch people.

Student Government Association Secretary Calvin Frierson suggested funding T-shirts or providing funds for Greek Week.

Holcomb suggested the Greek Council fill out a monetary request form and bring it back March 9. They need to describe the nature of the request and reasons for the funds.
