Boll Weevil Stampede Rodeo Ends the 2010 Intercollegiate Rodeo Competition

Monticello- The 2010 National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association for the Ozark region competed in its championship round at the Weevil Stampede Rodeo at the Drew County Fairgrounds April 22–24.
Contestants can compete in any of the seven events. The events are bareback riding, calf roping, breakaway roping, saddle bronc riding, steer wrestling, goat tying, team roping, barrel racing and bull riding.
University of Arkansas – Monticello Rodeo Coach JoLyn Wells planned and led the Rodeo smoothly with the help of her athletes. Wells has been the UAM Rodeo Coach for a number of years now but will be leaving in June.
The UAM Rodeo Team had five competitors compete in six events during the championship round April 24. Lana Chastain won the breakaway roping with 5.6 seconds on two heads and also competed in the goat tying event winning 2nd place in the 2010 Championships. Chastain earned the 2010 Ozark All-Around Champion Cowgirl Award.
Stephanie Zakrzewski competed in the goat tying event and the team roping with teammate Slade Deason.
Chelsey Brock barrel raced and Cody Mounts competed in bull riding.
“We are doing really well considering how small our team is,” said University of Arkansas-Monticello first-year student Chelsey Brock. Brock competes in the breakaway and barrel racing events.
