Provost David Ray announced the replacement of Trey Berry, dean of the School of Social and Behavioral Sciences Wednesday, Sept. 30.
Ray announced Carol Strong, assistant professor of Political Science, as the interim Dean of Social and Behavioral Sciences. A national search for a permanent replacement will begin next month.
Strong joined the School of Social and Behavioral Sciences’ staff in 2008. She received a doctorate in Comparative and International Politics at the University of Melbourne in Australia.
Ray talked about his choice for the interim position.
“I had seen how she worked with the students and with faculty members. Also, I liked the work that she has set out to do as a professor and I saw that she had excellent qualities of not only expertise, but dependability. I think that’s really important in that position.”
Berry announced his resignation as dean in September, but will remain the position until Oct. 20. Berry decided to move on from the position and will become deputy director of the Department of Arkansas Heritage. He will be in charge of four different museums in Little Rock.
