The Student Activities Board met Tuesday, Aug. 31 to make plans for the University of Arkansas at Monticello’s “Green Out Game” against West Alabama, held Sept. 2.

Student Programs and Activities Director Mindy Holcomb said the Athletic Department would give away prizes at each quarter of the game and wanted SAB to give a large prize at the last quarter.

SAB Chairperson Tiffany Reed asked about giving a laptop computer as a prize if the budget allowed.

According to Holcomb, the organization could afford the prize, so board member Sandy Herring made the motion to purchase the laptop for the game, which the board approved.

SAB arranged to set up a tailgating event before the televised game, which would include various events from mechanical bull riding to face painting. The cheerleaders planned to throw T-shirts into the crowd when UAM scored.

Holcomb also gave a recap of the “Welcome Week” attendance.

“It was very successful,” she said.

Holcomb said around 600 students attended the free movie night, around 250 each to the bowling night and mind-reading event with guest mentalist Robert Channing, and about 200 to the “Burgers and a Band” cook-out.
