A new basketball ticket-sale policy went into effect with the 2010 season, and university officials hope it will bring in more dollars.

“What we are doing now is essentially the same thing our peer institutions have been doing for years,” Assistant Athletic Director Doug Crise said. “Which is to give our fans an opportunity to upgrade their game-viewing experience while generating revenue in a relatively painless way.”

Chancellor Jack Lassiter and Director of Athletics Chris Ratliff adopted the new policy not just to bring in the dollars, but to bring out the fans.

“We drew very well for our men's home opener this week,” Crise said, adding they also had a good turnout when the Cotton Blossoms hosted the Dr. Mary Jane Gilbert Classic.

The New Policy

Students with a UAM ID and all children under 12 get general admission seats free.

General admission seats cost nothing to UAM faculty and staff and their families, those possessing a University Athletic Pass, parents and special groups on the game-day pass list.

For an additional $3 per game, students, faculty, staff, Athletic Pass holders and parents on the game-day pass list can sit in the Chair Back Seat Section.

The general public will pay $5 per game for general admission and $8 per game for Chair Back seating.

Faculty, staff and those with an Athletic Pass can pay $50 for season tickets in the Chair back section, good for 17 home games.

Revenue generated by ticket sales goes into a general fund for the benefit of the entire university, and does not necessarily go toward athletic programs, Crise said.
