Like a Rock in Little Rock

I still like that old time rock ‘n’ roll; that kind of music just soothes the soul. If you like that kind of music, you’ll be interested in hearing about April 26. It may help you reminisce about the days of old.
Bob Seger and the Silver Bullet Band will perform at the Verizon Arena in North Little Rock Tuesday, April 26. Public sale of the tickets for the event went on sale Saturday, March 12. Tickets will be priced at $77 ($65 plus $12 fees).
Seger kicks off his 2011 tour March 26 in Toledo, Ohio. Twenty-two dates have been announced, with more possibly being announced later. Of the sixteen concerts with tickets now available, six have sold out.
Fans can expect Seger to perform such classics as “Still the Same,” “Night Moves,” “Like a Rock” and “Old Time Rock ‘n’ Roll.” A press release also hints at the possibility Seger may perform tracks from his next studio album he continues to work on, his seventeenth studio effort.
“Right now he probably has half of an album that he’s happy with,” a source close to Seger told Andy Greene with “Rolling Stone.”
With a career spanning more than four decades, the raspy-voiced 65-year-old Seger has released 16 studio albums and several live albums, including 1976’s two albums, the live release “Live Bullet” and the studio release “Night Moves,” both which helped Seger find success after several years of gigs, as well as 2004’s “Greatest Hits,” which continues to sell well (more than six million copies) even after seven years. In a turbulent time of declining records sales and finger-pointing at mass piracy, Seger’s albums continue doing well with physical sales. Seger currently restricts digital downloads to his own website at bobseger.com, but fans can also find his latest compilation online for digital download exclusively on Amazon.com. The album costs $5.99. (The album can’t be bought through iTunes, where his songs only appear on various unofficial compilations). Fans cannot download single tracks from Amazon.
Seger’s music speaks to the everyman. His songs tell about teenage flings and youth (“Against the Wind” and “Night Moves”) and about the life of the working class (“Turn the Page” and “American Storm”).
Seger and the Silver Bullet Band achieved their pinnacle during the 1970s and 80s with the release of three albums, “Night Moves,” “Strangers in Town” and “Against the Wind.” The band has over 50 million records sold during their career. Even Tom Cruise had to jump around to “Old Time Rock ‘N’ Roll.”
Seger last toured in 2006. Previous to that, he did not embark on a major tour for 11 years. Many of those 2006 dates sold out quickly and critics expect this tour to do so as well.
His latest album, a compilation entitled “Early Seger Vol. I,” includes remastered or recorded material and four unreleased tracks.
Ready to see him again? He’ll be here soon, up on the stage. It will be an experience to remember later in the evening with the echoes of the amplifiers ringing in your ears.
