"Infinite Days" by Rebecca Maizel

"Infinite Days" by Rebecca Maizel surely adds a uniquely pleasant page turning surprise to any fantasy fiction lover’s bookshelf.

Maizel surprises readers from the modern, normal vampire novels. Lenah Beaudonte, a 592-year-old immortal, does not crave immortality, but craves for human life once again. Who other to give Lenah her mortal life than her mate Rhode with a ritual and his life? Rhode's and Lenah’s long-lasting love, along with their immortal lives, crumbles to dust …literally. With a new life and a list of modern things to take in and learn, Lenah goes back to High School at Wickham School and the hard times of being a 16 year-old girl again.

Lenah’s tragic story of how Rhode robbed her childhood, draws you in and quickly you develop a feeling and caring for her character. Maizel creates a unique depiction of Rhode’s and Lenah’s love, because not only does Rhode hold Lenah’s heart, but Vicken, a member of Lenah’s coven, also loves her.

Although, Lenah finds out just because their immortality is breathtaking, a mortal’s love flows just as beautifully. Quickly Lenah finds herself head over heels for Justin, a new classmate of hers. But, Lenah forgets about the things she needs to focus on, her coven closes in on her and she puts her feelings aside to protect the ones she loves. The cliffhanger ending will continue in the second installment of the ‘Vampire Queen Series,’ “Stolen Nights,” due to release in 2011.

This fantasy fiction novel shows friendship, love, anger and revenge in a 310-page, page-turner, which keeps you on the edge your seat. Maizel keeps you informed throughout the book with flashbacks from Lenah's previous vampire life. Also, the boarding school Wickham is refreshing and realistic allowing her characters to really come to life in your head.

Maizel presents a wonderfully written fiction novel about immortality and love. Once I picked up this book I didn’t put it down until I finished.
