SGA Senate, SGA, SAB Seeking Members and Officers

Zack Tucker, Student Government Association president, and
Sandy Herring, temporary president pro-temp of the SGA Senate, met Thursday,
Sept. 9 to discuss plans for filling positions within SGA, SGA Senate and the
Student Activities Board.
According to Herring, e-mails and fliers will be sent through Mindy Holcomb, director of Student Programs and Activities, including information about joining the organizations.
Tucker said members of the SGA Senate must be appointed or nominated by an academic department on campus and have a grade point average of 2.5 or higher. Members of SGA or SAB must also have a 2.5 grade point average, but rather than appointed, they must be a representative of an organization on campus.
However, Holcomb stated officers within the executive cabinet, such as president, vice president, etc., must maintain a 2.75 grade point average.
“Senators are the voice for the student body,” Herring said, describing the duties of SGA senators attending faculty assembly meetings and voting on bills proposed by the SGA president. “Everything goes through the senate.”
Herring said she temporarily holds the title of president pro-temp of the SGA Senate until new officers are appointed.
