The University of Arkansas-Monticello Football program has a new coaching staff. The staff came here to help turn this program around and as of now they are succeeding.
The coaches last year were good coaches too, but the new coaching staff gets the team involved in things that the team did not do last season, such as more involvement in the community as the team and coaches spend quality time together outside of school and practice. The players go to Monticello Elementary and Drew Central every Wednesday and Friday to tutor and play with the kids. Every Tuesday the players and coaches go bowling.
I asked a couple of teammates how they felt about the new coaching staff and program.
- Cornerback Devonte Bess said, “The UAM coaching staff has gone through a drastic change. The new coaches have made a big change and I really feel confident in these coaches that they will lead us to the championship.”
- Defensive end Eugene Robinson said, “The new coaches at UAM are great. They are a great upgrade from last year's coaches. They have brought a new confidence in the team and fans that I didn't see last year. They have also brought the team closer as a family.”
I, Robert Thomas, appreciate what the coaches are doing for us players and the football program and hope the best for our program.
