The University of Arkansas at Monticello held its annual all-Greek step show "Stomp the Yard" April 28 in the Drew Central auditorium.

Tau Kappa Epsilon and Phi Beta Sigma stepped together for the second year in a row and took home first place for the second time as well.

Mindy Holcomb, director of Student Programs and Activities, served as the announcer for the event. Holcomb started the night by thanking everyone for coming out to the Greek show.

Tau Kappa Epsilon and Phi Beta Sigma's names were drawn first to perform. The two fraternities started with a video they made that gave an introduction to their performance. The theme for their performance was pranks on campus.

Their performance had a positive reaction on the audience. Nina Martin, a sophomore physical education major, said, "I thought they were really, really good.  They really got the audience pumped up."

The next to perform was Sigma Sigma Sigma and Alpha Phi Alpha.  This group included jokes from State Farm. They also included whistles and high jumps with their stepping.

Alpha Sigma Alpha and Phi Lambda Chi were next on stage with a "Bringing the fire" theme for their performance.  Phi Lambda Chi wore fire red shirts and Alpha Sigma Alpha wore all black. Alpha Sigma Alpha mixed a choreographed dance with stepping.

Zeta Phi Beta and Alpha Sigma Tau were the last to perform.  These two sororities had a burlesque theme.  They used a chair, high heels, hand clapping, and stomping to help make the beat for their stepping.  The audience seemed really surprised at the different techniques used during this performance.

Holcomb announced the winners of the step show: Tau Kappa Epsilon and Phi Beta Sigma won first place and Zeta Phi Beta and Alpha Sigma Tau won second place.

The judges for the step show competition were Camille Lattimore, Marshelvia Thompson-Collins, Michael Wolfe, Joseph Jordan and Kimberly Johnson.

While the judges tallied the totals for the stepping competition, Holcomb announced Greek awards.

Alpha Sigma Alpha won highest sorority GPA.  Phi Beta Sigma won highest fraternity GPA. Alpha Sigma Tau won sorority of the year, while Phi Beta Sigma won fraternity of the year.
