Some students at the University of Arkansas at Monticello plan to receive their first disbursement for fall loans Wednesday, Sept. 22.

Before students pick up their refund checks, certain requirements need to be fulfilled. Any student with loans must complete their Master Promissory Note and Entrance Counseling before any loan fund disbursements. Students needing to sign these forms received e-mails and can go to the cashier’s office in Harris Hall for instructions.

Any student with state-funded aid awarded by UAM must complete a Release of Information Authorization form before money will be refunded. If students do not complete these forms, their refunds can suffer a delay.

Fall freshman first time borrowers pick up date starts on Sept. 29. The second disbursement will be available Oct. 20.

Most common reasons funds do not get applied to student’s accounts include:

  • Their bill is not finalized
  • Valid direct loan MPN not complete
  • Direct Stafford Loan counseling not completed
  • Student does not acquire enough hours that semester
  • Provisionally admitted

The refund check pick-up time is from 12:30 to 4 p.m on Wednesday, Sept. 22 in the University Center Green Room. After this date, checks must be picked up in the cashier’s office in Harris Hall Room 204 from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Students must present their UAM I.D. to receive their refund checks.

Some students already started planning on what to with their money from their refund checks.

“I’m going to put some of it in the bank and get another tattoo,” Meg Ryan said.
