WeevilNet Makes New Requirements to Receive Refund Checks

The
University of Arkansas at Monticello recently changed the way it deals with online accounts by updating its software to PeopleSoft. Students know PeopleSoft as WeevilNet.
Poise, the University’s previous software used for the past 27 years, qualified as a relational base. This means the students made all adjustments to their account themselves. PeopleSoft, the updated software, fixes itself throughout the entire software once the student makes changes.
With the updated software, the university requires new items to be signed prior to receiving refund checks.
A Release of Information (R.I.A.) form needs to be signed for anyone who receives institution aids, academic scholarships, grants or senior citizen aids; this also applies to students receiving the lottery scholarships.
Legislation recently allowed the government to choose which bank the loan borrower receives their loans from. Due to the legislation, an Interest Counseling form needs to be signed before pick-up of the student’s checks can be done. Students need to sign the Interest Counseling form before each school year and students who signed before legislation went through will need to sign the form again.
Lindy Hester, assistant controller with the cashier's office, explains all of the things needed signing through the students' university e-mail.
“We understand it is important to get the checks to students and we need to get this done. It is just a learning process we all have to adapt to it,” Hester said.
Hester said the university keeps cutting down the time students can get their refunds. The summer line took around two hours to get through. She said this fall semester took from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m., which cut down an hour. The university feels the transformation of the software the same as the students do, but continue trying to make it easier for everyone.
The university encourages students to continue to check their e-mail and WeevilNet on a frequent basis because there will be information announces through the student’s e-mail and through WeevilNet.
Along with the new item requirements, older requirements still need fulfilling:
- Finalize bill
- Fill out Master Promissory Note
- Complete Direct Stafford Loan counseling
On Oct. 20, the second disbursement of fall loans will be available in the John F. Gibson University Center from 12:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. and any refunds not picked up will be eligible for pick-up the next day at the Cashier’s office.
Any requirements fulfilled by the end of the week will allow students to receive their refund the next Wednesday.
