SAB Chairperson Tiffany Reed informed the members the chances of providing a bus for students to travel to El Dorado for the Boomtown Classic game Nov. 6 did not look likely.

Mindy Holcomb, director of Student Programs and Activities, said only two students had responded, as of the meeting, to e-mails sent to collect a list of those interested. She said the deadline to respond was not until Friday, Oct. 29.

Reed said if anything changed, students would be notified through e-mail.

Reed suggested SAB discuss prizes for an upcoming Late Night Breakfast event. She suggested movie passes with the possibility of a computer.

Zack Tucker, Student Government Association president, made a motion for the board to spend the annual $2,000 on prizes.

Holcomb asked SAB to start thinking of events for Weevil Welcome week in January. She said she considered planning events for Jan. 10-12.

She suggested possible movie and bowling nights.

Reed said she liked the movie idea, but questioned the bowling event.

"It's so hard for everybody that wants to bowl to get to bowl," she said.

Holcomb stated that though the previous bowling event, "wasn't a knockout, everybody that was there got to bowl."

Tucker asked members to think of ideas and plan to discuss plans during the next SAB meeting, scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 9.

Also during the meeting, Tara Snider Coburn, president of the Journalism Club, presented information about the club's upcoming "Last Lecture Series," scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 11.

Lynne Thompson, professor of forest insects, will speak at the event on the topic of why the University of Arkansas-Monticello mascot, the boll weevil, is "so magnificent."

Coburn said for the first time, the Journalism Club planned to hold the event during the lunch hour.

"We may get more students involved (with it this time)," she said.

Coburn asked SAB to contribute money allowing the club to purchase pizza and supplies for the event. Ronald Forte, SGA secretary and SAB member, suggested co-sponsoring the series and providing $300. The board approved the suggestion.

Tucker also addressed an upcoming survey to be sent out to students. The survey will be used to collect statistics for possible plans for a commons room or building in the future. He said right now statistics were just being collected and plans had not been made.
